I can’t say I know anyone who loved last summer’s JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, but I also can’t deny that it was a strong box office performer and helped prove the viability of the 3D format.
New Line and Walden are slapping together a new heavily CG’d kidventure, this one called MYSTERIOUS TRAVELS: THE LOST MAP OF TREASURE ISLAND. Not content to plunder just one public domain literary classic, this mythical location will supposedly include elements from Jules Verne’s “Mysterious Island,” Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island” and Jonathan Swift’s “Gulliver’s Travels”.
JOURNEY director Eric Brevig and writer Richard Outten are developing the script. No cast is confirmed, but it’s probable that eternal adventurer Brendan Fraser, teen star Josh Hutcherson and that hot Icelandic babe will be back.
