Well here’s something I didn’t see coming… Another AMITYVILLE HORROR remake? Sure why the hell not!
I sh*t you not folks. The guys over at Bloody-Disgusting got the good word that The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films are planning on remaking THE AMITYVILLE HORROR… completely ignoring the Platinum Dunes remake starring Ryan Reynolds, Melissa George and Rachel Nichols (below). Well it’s been five years so it’s understandable. I bet this is just to make the flick in 3D and bank on this 3D craze sweeping Hollywood right now.
According to BD’s source there may already be a director attached! And of course… there may not be! Oh the mystery! There’s no telling at all if this is legit or not just yet but we’ll be awaiting official word and as soon as we hear something you’ll be the first to know!
THE AMITYVILLE HORROR is about a large house on the coast of Long Island where newly weds George and Kathy Lutz and their three children move into the house that they hope will be their dream house but it ends up in terror. Despite full disclosure by the real estate agent of the home’s history, George and Kathy buy the house. George says, “Houses don’t have memories,” but they turn to their family priest Father Delaney who believes the house is haunted and performs an exorcism on the house. But the evil spirit in the house causes him to become blind and makes him very ill. George and Kathy with the help of another priest Father Bolen and a police detective they face the fears of the house, but not knowing the spirit is planning to possess George and then the children…
