Another Park Adventure?

It always seems to be that sometimes, it’s hard to let a dead dog die. Or something like that. Take the JURASSIC PARK franchise, for instance. Yes, the first one rocked the house. Then the second one came, and while it was entertaining as hell, it had some holes… even with Steven Speilberg returning behind the camera.


But unlucky for us, JURASSIC PARK 3 came out, and showed us all what a steamy pile of donkey dung looks like… as well as killing any need or want of another PARK movie.


I think they thought we’d forget. Director Frank Marshall (CONGO) recently dropped a little line with the London Free Press today about the upcoming JURASSIC PARK 4: it“has a good script now, so we should have that one up and running next year for release in 2008.” Ah. Something to look forward to, I’m sure. Of course, a lot can happen in 2 years, so nothing’s set in stone… let’s hope they have a change of heart, and drop this project dead in the water.


He also went into where the film adaptation of Stephen King/ Peter Straub’s THE TALISMAN is going: The movie “is on a back burner. There’s no signs of immediate progress on that one, but it is still ours if we want to produce it.” Why???? In the words of The Dude: “That’s a bummer, man”. Yeah. Big bummer. They put an epic like THE TALISMAN on the back burner, but run with dog movies in snow (EIGHT BELOW). That just doesn’t make any sense to me.


Better idea: drop the silly JP4 movie, and give THE TALISMAN a bigger budget that an epic like that really needs! It’ll be better for all of us that way. To see what Marshall had to say about filming with dogs, go ahead and click HERE.
