To go along with My Buddy Eric’s update on writer / director David Twohy from yesterday (check that shit out HERE), we have even more exciting news that could be coming out of the Twohy camp. Gamespot was chatting it up with Vin Diesel recently to promote the upcoming video game The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, who hints that a third CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK movie is in the works!
Could this just be wishful thinking on Diesel’s part, who has seemed to have dropped out of the limelight in recent years? See for yourself: Maybe we’re too tight-lipped about the next ‘Chronicles of Riddick’ film, and I think circa the release of [Dark Athena] that’s probably when you’ll start hearing more about the next ‘Riddick’ film. It is underway and I almost think it’s a coincidence that we haven’t heard anything, that there hasn’t been a lot of public stuff on the ‘Riddick’ movie.
He then mentioned that Twohy is currently writing the script for Riddick’s third adventure. It’s hard to tell if Diesel is really saying there will be a third movie, or if it all depends on how successful the Assault on Dark Atehna game is. Seems odd that there would be another entry in the series… but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want another one! PITCH BLACK was dope, and the unrated CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK was surprisingly better than the theaterically released version, which also had it’s awesome moments. So a third entry? Count me in!
