Peacock’s Twisted Metal series will debut on the streaming service tomorrow, but Anthony Mackie already knows what video game franchise he’d like to tackle next — Metal Gear Solid.

Anthony Mackie spoke with The Wrap about Twisted Metal and was asked what video game he’s love to see turned into a movie or TV show next. “There’s so many video games that I would love to see turned into movies just so you can go on a journey with those characters,” Mackie said. “They already did ‘Max Payne,’ they did so many of them already. It’s just another wave of it now. But I would love to do ‘Metal Gear Solid.’ I feel like there’s so many characters that we learned of and we fell in love with through video games that would make cool IP to turn into television shows and movies.

Anthony Mackie isn’t alone in wanting a live-action adaptation of Metal Gear Solid as Hollywood has been trying to get one off the ground for some time. The last we heard of the project, it was in the hands of Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) and was set to star Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) as Solid Snake.

Based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the Twisted Metal series will be a half-hour, high-octane action-comedy about a “motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.” Anthony Mackie stars as John Doe, “a smart-ass milkman who talks as fast as he drives. With no memory of his past, John gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make his wish of finding community come true, but only if he can survive an onslaught of savage vehicular combat.

Twisted Metal will debut on Peacock on July 27th, so be sure to check out a review from our own Alex Maidy right here.
