Are You Afraid of the Dark reboot scores huge ratings

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Nickelodeon’s ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK revival series aired in three parts throughout October. I watched all three parts with my fiance's teenage siblings and we all had a blast. And today we've learned that the limited series will more than likely have a follow-up as this first limited series was a smashing success.

Here's the official ratings rundown gobbledygook:

All three parts ranked as the most co-viewed show on broadcast and TV each week, with 33% of Adults 18-49 watching with a Kid 6-11. It was the number-one live-action series on cable TV in all kids’ demos (2-11, 6-11 and tweens 9-14). And with an industry standard of shows targeting 6-11-year-olds experiencing roughly 20% lifts in L3 time-shifted ratings compared to Live Same Day, Are You Afraid of the Dark? scored 35% lifts among Kids 6-11 and 36% overall with the Kids 2-11 demo in L3 versus LSD.

I don't know what half of the shite means but I do know that it's all good news. Great news, in fact! Like I said above, this all but guarantees (I hope) that the powers that be behind the scenes at Nickelodeon will give us another weekly series – or at least another limited series. Nice!

Written by Ben David Grabinski (SKIPTRACE) and directed by Dean Israelite (POWER RANGERS, PROJECT ALMANAC), the three-episode hourlong limited series introduces an entirely new Midnight Society group of kids who tell

a terrifying tale about the Carnival of Doom and its evil ringmaster Mr. Top Hat, only to witness the shocking story come frightfully to life.

The cast included Sam Ashe Arnold (Best.Worst.Weekend.Ever.), Miya Cech (RIM OF THE WORLD), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl), Lyliana Wray (TOP GUN: MAVERICK), Rafael Casal (BLINDSPOTTING), and IT and GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN star Jeremy Taylor. The limited series was produced by ACE Entertainment (TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE) with ACE founder Matt Kaplan and Spencer Berman serving as executive producers. Grabinski and Israelite also executive produced.
