Armie Hammer joins Alicia Vikander in Ben Wheatley’s Freakshift

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

For an overly handsome guy born to a wealthy family with a lot of Hollywood connections, I’m oddly kind of rooting for Armie Hammer. I don’t know why, but it seems like he’s always trying, and I think he’s actually a fun presence in a lot of his roles. Yes, even LONE RANGER.

I’ve been told he’s great in Ben Wheatley‘s latest film FREE FIRE, which probably explains why he’s been cast as the love interest in Wheatley’s upcoming film FREAKSHIFT starring Alicia Vikander (EX MACHINA, TOMB RAIDER). Here’s official synopsis:

Set in a world where monsters rise from the ground and terrorize citizens when night falls, The Freakshift is a band of government-organized misfits and lawbreakers who hunt and kill the creatures for civic duty, sport and money.

That actually sounds really fun! And I like what I’ve seen of FREE FIRE, so this definitely jumped up my list of anticipated films. What do you Schmoes think? Sound off below!

No official release date yet, but FREAKSHIFT hopes to start shooting August after Vikander finishes up TOMB RAIDER.
