Here we are 2009, another year to tackle in terms of life, love, lust, hate,
sex, booze, fun, rock & roll and movies. Although there are a lot of genre jamborees that I’m
looking forward to in 2009, here are my TOP 5
priorities in terms of the suckas
that have me pumped the most! You also can see my LEAST
ANTICIPATED FLICK of 2009 at the bottom where it damn belongs!
5- FRIDAY THE 13TH

Release: February 13, 2009)
Synopsis: In this re-imagining of the
classic horror film, Clay searches for his missing sister in the eerie woods of
legendary Crystal Lake, where he stumbles on the creaky remains of rotting old
cabins behind moss-covered trees. And that’s not the only thing lying in wait
under the brush. Jason Voorhees baby!
Why: Cause much like the
TCM remake, this one feels more like a sequel than a remake of the
original. And being that I am a huge Voorhees fan, I can’t wait to see good old
Hockey Puss do the human laundry in all of his Rated R glory. Tag to that Marcus
Nispel’s razor sharp eye behind the camera and you got one pumped mofo
right here.
4- WHITEOUT

Release:
September 11, 2009
Synopsis: After two years stationed at
Antarctica’s South Pole research base, lone U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko (Kate
Beckinsale) is as anxious as anyone to be going home. She’s turned in her
resignation and is counting the hours and minutes to the last plane out. But
three days before departure, a body turns up on the ice and Carrie is
immediately thrust into Antarctica’s first murder investigation.
Why: Cause I’m hoping this will be the
film that FINALLY sees Dominic Sena reach the potential his debut Kalifornia promised.
Moreover, its a slasher/mystery set in the snow (always a groovy setting), its
not a remake or a sequel and it stars the always scrumptious Kate Beckingsale.
Hopefully it will be the film that
D-Tox aka Eye See You wasn’t.

NO TRAILER YET!
3- MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D

Release: January 16, 2009
Synopsis: Ten years ago, Tom Hanniger, an
inexperienced coal miner, caused an accident in the tunnels that trapped and
killed five men and sent the only survivor, Harry Warden, into a permanent coma.
But Harry Warden wanted revenge. Exactly one year later, on Valentine’s Day, he
woke up…and brutally murdered twenty-two people before being killed. Ten years
later, Tom Hanniger returns to Harmony on Valentine’s Day, still haunted by the
deaths he caused. But tonight, after years of peace, something from Harmony’s
dark past has returned. Wearing a miner’s mask and armed with a pickaxe, an
unstoppable killer is on the loose.
Why: If I go by the synopsis, it
sounds more like a sequel
to
the original than a remake; always good news to me! Moreover Patrick
Luissier is an ace visually, the 3D angle looks like it will blow me away and
its rated R for: graphic brutal horror violence and grisly images throughout,
some strong sexuality, graphic nudity and language. BOOYA!
2-
AVATAR

Release: November 6, 2009
Synopsis: A band of humans are pitted in
a battle against a distant planet’s indigenous population.
Why: Cause it’s from James Cameron,
the dude that brought us ALIENS, THE ABYSS and THE TERMINATOR going back to what
he does best. It’s about fucking time! I expect nothing less than pure GENIUS!

NO TRAILER YET!
1- TERMINATOR SALVATION

Release: May 22, 2009
Synopsis: Set in post-apocalyptic 2018,
John Connor is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its
army of Terminators. But the future that Connor was raised to believe in is
altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright, a stranger whose last memory
is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from
the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught,
Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of
Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible
annihilation of mankind.
Why: Cause I worship the TERMINATOR
franchise, Christian Bale is the Mack, the TRAILERS so far have been pretty damn
tight and I just can’t get enough of KILLER CYBORGS killing! Bring it!
LEAST PUMPED FOR HORROR OF 2009
THE STEPFATHER REMAKE

Release: October 16, 2009
Synopsis: A seemingly normal guy wants the
perfect family, but when his new wife and stepchild don’t measure up, he makes
plans to eliminate them and move on to the next
Why: Cause the
original Stepfather can’t be topped. Cause its a PG 13 remake of an R
rated film (i.e. SELL OUT). Cause its written and directed by the gents behind the awful
cream -puff PROM
NIGHT remake. Nough said!
Something else I’m looking forward to in 2009 – MORE OF
THESE!
