While horror fans await the return of Bruce Campbell to kick zombie ass in a film that’s almost-like-a-sequel-but-different-than EVIL DEAD, comic book fans have had something even closer to a sequel for a while.
Dynamite Comics has been producing books continuing the story of the chinned-one for a while now, and Dread Central reports that they’ll be continiung to do so for a while to come. A new agreement between MGM Entertainment and Dynamite Comics extended the comic company’s license of the Ash character (they’ve had it since 2004), so expect more clashes with the deadites and other familiar faces. Things kick into high gear in ‘Army of Darkness’ #8, with a crossever with Classic Monsters. Issue #13 will also be special, as it commemorates Ash’s 13th Anniversary, and what better way to celebrate it than for Ash to face off against his deadliest foe yet? For fans of John Bolton’s comic adaptation of ARMY OF DARKNESS, Dynamite is planning to re-release the adaptation, which makes for an awesome read for when your DVD player’s on the fritz.
As well, Dynamite secured rights to Darkman, another of Raimi’s creations. Instant crossover material?
