There really doesn’t need to be a LAST EXORCISM 2, but of course that’s beside the point. The original film had a budget under $10 million and grossed around $67 million worldwide; crafting a sequel is a relative no-brainer. Last month it was revealed that screenwriter Damien Chazelle had been hired to script the follow-up, but story details have been unavailable. Indeed, considering the way the original concluded, it’s a mystery just what the next step could be.

Whatever that next step is, it will involve Ashley Bell. The actress will evidently be reprising her role as Nell Sweetzer.

“I just signed on for the sequel of Last Exorcism,”
Bell said to Bloody Disguting.

“Whenever you get that phone call, that opportunity, it’s incredible. I loved working with Strike Entertainment and Eli the first time around. To be able to work with them again, that’s what I’m most excited about. They’re an incredible company.”

Commence “I guess it wasn’t really the Last Exorcism jokes.
