Assault on Rio Bravo: Alexander Nevsky, Joe Cornet are making a sequel!

We've been hyped for the Joe Cornet and Alexander Nevsky collaboration Assault on Rio Bravo, "an action packed Western with strong Horror elements" (see the teaser trailer above – over 420 000 views already), ever since it was first announced – and now there's even more reason to be excited. The film went over so well with international distributors at the Cannes Film Market last month that Cornet and Nevsky are now working on a sequel!

ETA Films, Hollywood Storm, and San Rafael Productions have the sequel to Assault on Rio Bravo on the fast track to start filming in November of 2021. Cornet will be directing and executive producing, with the first film's writer Craig Hamann (Showdown in Manila) returning to write the sequel as well. Nevsky and Cornet will be reprising their acting roles, as will Matthias Hues (I Come in Peace), Natalie Denise Sperl (Mank), actress/supermodel Anna Oris, and other stars of Assault on Rio Bravo that have yet to be named.

Nevsky, who is also producing the film, provided the following statement: 

It will be my very first sequel and I’m happy for this opportunity to make another film with my friend Joe Cornet who’s the best director I’ve ever worked with! Shooting of Assault on Rio Bravo with him was a pure joy and I can’t wait to go back in the saddle and start all the preparation!"

Eric Brenner (Crazy Heart) will be executive producing the sequel, with Sean Murray (Call of Duty: Black Ops) creating the musical score and Art Camacho (Half Past Dead) handling the fight choreography and stunts. Sam Wilkinson (Paydirt) will return as Director of Photography.

Some other big names of action cinema are in talks to join the cast. As soon as the deals are made, we'll let you know.
