Astronomy students battle bloodthirsty aliens in Creatures

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Jopia Productions and Creatures Media LLC have announced that they are now in post-production on director Tony Jopia's CREATURES, a Christmas-themed creature feature that draws inspiration from the likes of NIGHT OF THE CREEPS, CRITTERS, DEAD HEAT, GHOULIES, THEY LIVE, and GREMLINS.

The synopsis:

A group of astronomy students get more than they bargained for after finding an injured alien who is being targeted by a group of bloodthirsty alien creatures.

Romain Barbey, Jo Hart, Hephzibah Roe, Fina Saito, Zulekha Chaka, Joe Gallina, Cristo Fernández, Jack Frank, Andrew Greaves, Steve Aaron-Sipple, Chris Kyriacou, Derek Frood, and Sarah Frances star. Barbey is also the co-producer.

CREATURES was filmed in Oxfordshire, U.K. in February, with principal photography wrapping just a couple weeks before the COVID-19 lockdown began. The post team is now working safely from their own homes.

The director says his film will

definitely be delivering a Red Christmas this year! We're super excited to be making our biggest movie yet. It's going to be a non-stop action, sci-fi, horror comedy packed with badass nasty aliens and one adorable little bugger that yule definitely want for Christmas."

Producer Stu Jopia adds that CREATURES is

for all the fans of '80s pint-sized creature feature movies. It really does have a bit of everything; action, comedy, sci-fi thrills, and tonnes of gore. A true love letter to movies that I grew up with."

Jopia Productions and Creatures Media LLC say their passion lies in melding practical and visual FX. CREATURES promises to deliver

some creatively nasty SFX, tremendous puppet creature work, and VFX work that will blow fans of action / horror comedies truly away.

Well, I'm sold. CREATURES is aiming for a festive theatrical and physical release this Christmas, and we'll keep you updated on it along the way.

Tony Jopia's previous films include DEADTIME, CRYING WOLF 3D, CUTE LITTLE BUGGERS, DAWNING OF THE DEAD, and BLADE OF THE ASSASSIN.
