No, it’s not giving us the real “goods” we want in an AVATAR photo, but the geek in me still likes seeing the King of the World on a set again, giving direction to up-and-coming superstar (?) Sam Worthington on the set of his super-secretive sci-fi epic. This image is in the newest LA Times, along with the following text:
The buzz surrounding James Cameron’s big-budget return to science fiction has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. The film, a mix of CGI and live action using new techniques Cameron himself helped to develop, was shot with a special 3-D camera (also developed by Cameron). Mix that with the promise of large-scale, hard science fiction that hasn’t been attempted much in the past few years, and you have a project that seems guaranteed to live up to the hype and expectations that are riding on it.
Oh it had better live up to the hype and expectations… Because if AVATAR isn’t a brilliant, get-out-of-my-chair-and-give-everyone-a-high-five-because-I’m-so-damn-happy experience, I’ll be an angry boy come next December, and people will feel my anger. Believe me, I haven’t been waiting about a half-dozen years for something only to sit back and watch with acceptance as my dreams are shattered. That’s what happened when I lost my virginity, and it won’t happen again! (Yes, I lost my virginity when I was six.)
AVATAR starring Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana, Giovanni Ribisi and Michelle Rodriguez (pictured below) hits theaters DECEMBER 19th, 2009.
