Avengers: Doomsday could very well be the biggest movie of the year, but it’s facing some stiff competition, such as Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Dune: Part Three, the latter of which will actually be released on the same day. Dunesday, here we come. With Disney taking the stage at CinemaCon, the studio wasn’t about to let the moment go by without hyping up Avengers: Doomsday with a brand-new trailer.
Avengers: Doomsday at CinemaCon
Kevin Feige started off the presentation by announcing that Avengers: Endgame will be re-released in theaters on September 25 in Infinity Vision, a new certification for premium large format theaters designed to signify to audiences the biggest, brightest, and most immersive cinematic experiences. Doomsday will also be released in Infinity Vision.
Doomsday co-director Joe Russo said Doom is, “Not simply a villain — he’s one of the most complex Marvel characters. He’s always three moves ahead.“
Then, Robert Downey Jr. arrived to show off the brand-new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday! As you might expect, it was a massive hit with the audience, featuring many characters on-screen. Shang-Chi fighting Gambit, Mystique posing as Yelena, the Fantastic Four meeting the Thunderbolts, and more.
Thor seems to be the leader of the Avengers now, and is very serious as he prepares them for a new battle. Thor says, “Mark my words, we are going to need a miracle.” The trailer concludes with Steve Rogers showing up, but Thor doesn’t quite believe it until Rogers summons Mjolnir into his hand. We also see Thor fighting Dr. Doom, giving us our first look at his masked face, and we hear him speaking in voiceover.
Chris Evans then arrived on stage, joking to Downey Jr. about his new role: “This guy — I don’t like it.” And the trailer was played a second time! Hopefully, we’ll get to see this one for ourselves soon.
