We all know Fox sold their soul a long time ago, and for any doubters, here’s proof: a sequel to the disappointing ALIEN VS PREDATOR sheduled for release next year.
If Fox were to pull an about face and give real fans the R-rated gorefest that we’ve come to expect with the Xenomorphs and Predators, then all would be well. Unfortunately, the dollar whore will keep calling for more PG-13 copouts, and Fox will more than likely oblige. Today, Ain’t It Cool News posted a review of the script for the sequel, written by AvP scribe Shane Salerno late last year. Summing it all up, AICN states that despite all the work put into it, the script is ‘catastrophic’, and that it will probably signal a long sleep for the respective solo franchises, given that they’re now shuffled to the back in favour of the PG-13 crowd.
All isn’t doom and gloom, it seems. Keep in mind that AICN have shown in the past that they aren’t exactly neutral when it comes to anything associated with Paul Anderson (who is rumoured to be involved once again with the franchise). Is it just a case of being biased, or are AICN correct in their assumptions? We’ll see.
