Babysitter Massacre becomes a franchise with back-to-back sequels

Babysitter Massacre Henrique Couto

Five years ago, writer/director Henrique Couto paid tribute to slasher classics like HALLOWEEN, THE SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE, and SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE 2 with his own slasher movie BABYSITTER MASSACRE. Now that he has set foot in the sub-genre, he's taking the next logical step: he's making sequels. Not just one, but two BABYSITTER MASSACRE sequels will soon be filming back-to-back, officially making this a full-on franchise.

BABYSITTER MASSACRE stars Erin R. Ryan and Joni Durian will be returning in BABYSITTER MASSACRE II: SLAY BELLS, which will take place two months after the Halloween-set events of the first film. That's right, this one is going to be a Christmas slasher in the tradition of BLACK CHRISTMAS and SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT.

SLAY BELLS will also star Julia Gomez, Rachael Redolfi, and Erin Hoodblebrink.

As Christmas break hits Ray Falls, Ohio MORE girls are turning up dead. Are they related to the events of Halloween Night?

The third film, BABYSITTER MASSACRE III: OVERNIGHT, will then tell

an entirely new story, with a new killer and a new cast.

OVERNIGHT will be a camp slasher, in the tradition of films like THE BURNING and SLEEPAWAY CAMP.

BABYSITTER MASSACRE II: SLAY BELLS and BABYSITTER MASSACRE III: OVERNIGHT will both be happening thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, which is already well beyond its initial goal with a week left.

If you're not caught up on the first BABYSITTER MASSACRE, there are DVD and Blu-ray copies available on Amazon.

I've been following Couto's career for years, and he has provided a lot of movies to enjoy during that time. He has been making features for just over a decade and is already closing in on his 20th. I'm always looking forward to his next one, but since BABYSITTER MASSACRE is one of my favorites of his I'm especially excited for these sequels.
