It looks like Bad Robot's new World War II supernatural thriller OVERLORD has found itself a director. And that guy is Julius Avery, who directed the 2014 action film SON OF A GUN starring Ewan McGregor and Brenton Thwaites.
Here's the synopsis for OVERLORD from Variety:
The story follows two paratroopers who are caught behind enemy lines after their plane crashes on a mission to destroy a German Radio Tower in a small town outside of Normandy during the D-Day invasion. After reaching their target, the two paratroopers come to realize that besides fighting off Nazi soldiers, they also must combat against supernatural forces that are a result of a secret Nazi experiment.
This movie sounds awesome. While this isn't the first film to merge World War II with horror (i.e. DEAD SNOW), it is surprising there haven't been more. Especially with the fact that Hitler being obsessed with occult shit is a real thing. Either way, I'm excited.
