Sam Claflin, who may be best known for playing Oswald Mosley on Peaky Blinders and Finnick Odair in the Hunger Games franchise, has signed on to star in the supernatural thriller Bagman, which is set up at Hunger Games‘ home studio Lionsgate. Colm McCarthy, who previously directed The Girl With All the Gifts, the Krypton pilot, and the entirety of Peaky Blinders season 2, is taking the helm of Bagman, working from a screenplay by John Hulme.

Claflin is taking on the role of

a father who desperately struggles against his deepest inner fear when the childhood monster he once vanquished returns to haunt him. This time, however, the father has to muster the strength to not just fight for himself but for his family.

Bagman is being produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill. Meredith Wieck and Jorge Alfaro are overseeing the project for Lionsgate, while John Fischer does the same for Temple Hill.

Lionsgate’s Nathan Kahane had this to say (to The Hollywood Reporter) about Claflin signing on to star in Bagman:

Since we first worked with him on Catching Fire, Sam has grown into a compelling leading man. We’re thrilled that he responded so strongly to this project.”

I haven’t seen Peaky Blinders or the Hunger Games movies, so I’m not familiar with Claflin’s most popular roles. I have apparently seen him in Love Wedding Repeat, Enola Holmes, and as Punter #5 in Last Night in Soho, though. I look forward to seeing what the “childhood monster” he’ll have to battle in Bagman is going to be like.

How does Bagman sound to you? Are you a fan of Sam Claflin’s work, or of Colm McCarthy’s? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

We’ll be keeping an eye on Bagman as it continues to move forward.
