One dude I don’t think we see enough on the big screen in Simon Baker. He rocked it as ‘the hero’ in LAND OF THE DEAD, and if given the opportunity to star in stuff better than THE RING TWO, I think he’d be up there in the ‘leading man’ status.
It looks like that may change with his next project, as Variety is reporting that Baker just scored the leading role in David Ondaatje’s remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s THE LODGER for Universal Studios! While it may be a remake, it does sound promising, and may very well become another modern day classic in it’s own right. Check it out:
[THE LODGER] is broken into two converging plot lines set in present-day Los Angeles. The first involves an uneasy relationship between a psychologically unstable landlady and her enigmatic lodger, and the second is about a troubled detective engaged in a cat-and-mouse game with an unknown killer.
Very, very cool! No word on whether Baker will be the lodger in question, the detective on the trail, or the serial killer at this point, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out. The flick also stars Alfred Molina and Hope Davis (as seen below).
