Apparently there’s a pretty sweet looking horror flick heading our way courtesy of Studio 407 and Myriad Pictures. The flick is called HYBRID and is based off of Studio 407’s comic mini-series. Nothing catching your interest yet? Well here’s the synopsis:
When four friends decide to rent a schooner for the day, everything is smooth sailing until they encounter a derelict ship adrift in the ocean – a massive trawler that looks as if it had been dragged from the bottom of the sea. When they spot a frightened little girl waving at them from the bow, they have no choice but to investigate. As they get closer to the ship, they discover that the girl is not alone, and that a terrifying creature born from environmental abuse is also stalking the ship.
That comes from the comic’s official website and sounds awesome! I’ve always been intrigued by movies centering on monsters from the ocean. Think about it… the ocean is a pretty massive thing… anything can really be living down there. Kind of blows your mind, right? So I’m all for HYBRID! Now I’ve never seen the comic, but I’m hoping for a violent, scary adventure.
The film already has a direct attached in the form of CUBE ZERO’s Ernie Barbarash. Now I haven’t seen CUBE ZERO and I’ve heard mixed things, but regardless I’m still stoked for HYBRID! The trade paperback of HYBRID is due out February 25th with the film set to start filming sometime in 2009. We’ll watch for any other HYBRID news and update you all once we hear more.
