Basic 2 DVD info

After tanking at the box office for a variety of reasons (though Sharon Stone’s hotness not being one of them), Sony Pictures announced over the weekend the DVD for BASIC INSTINCT 2 will hit shelves July 11th.

Keeping with annoying trends like snapper cases that come with those tabs that you have to pop open before you actually get to open the case, the film will be available in the neutered MPAA version (R-rated) and the ‘never-before-seen’ Unrated edition, which for those of you who caught the promo reel, it’s more of what you’ve seen, but in higher resolution. Specs for the DVD include:

  • anamorphic widescreen
  • Dolby Digital 5.1
  • deleted scenes
  • an alternate ending
  • “Between the Sheets” making-of featurette
  • never-before-seen bonus footage (Unrated DVD exclusive)
  • “The Art of Seduction” featurette (Unrated DVD exclusive)

Considering the performance at the box office, the DVD looks to be getting some worthwhile extras, though it’d be better if there was a commentary from Stone and director Michael Caton-Jones, and fer cryin’ out loud Sony, where the hell is the trailer?! I hate it when studios get lazy with their DVDs. No real artwork as of yet (though DavisDVD does have a dinky cover for the Unrated disc, but you can’t see shite), so hit up my fellow bastard son of 100 maniacs Ammon for the Buzz-Saw.
