Battlestar Galactica creator to helm Space Race drama for Apple

JoBloJoBlo

Ronald D. Moore, the creative behind the re-imaged BATTLESTAR GALACTICA television series, has just landed a straight-to-series order from Apple for a Space Race drama. The project hails from Sony Pictures Television and Moore's Tail Ship Productions, and will explore what might have happened in the global space race had never ended.

In past, Moore, who co-created the new series with FARGO co-executive Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, has contributed to such properties as STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, STAR TREK: VOYAGER, STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE, CAPRICA, CARNIVALE, and OUTLANDER. With a pedigree like that, it's easy to see why Apple has tapped him for this bold, new series with an emphasis on interstellar exploration. Moore's next project, a presentation of Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams, will make its Amazon debut in January, 2018.

The announcement of Moore's space race drama marks the third original series ordered by Apple, with the other projects being a morning talk show drama starring Jennifer Aniston, who will also executively produce the show alongside Reese Witherspoon. Additionally, Apple is also setting up a reboot of the Steven Spielberg series AMAZING STORIES from HANNIBAL creator Bryan Fuller.

We'll be sure to bring you more news as Moore's project reaches for the stars.
