Get back to the beach for all the lifeguard action in the new trailer for Baywatch

“I’ll be ready…”

Here comes that theme song! After years of reigning television as the most-watched show ever, Baywatch would spin off into Baywatch Nights and Baywatch: Hawaii (featuring a young Jason Momoa) and Dwayne Johnson attempted to bring the property to the big screen with 2017’s Baywatch.

Now the show is back in melodramatic, episodic glory as Fox has now released the trailer for the Baywatch revival. This new series sees a grown-up Hobie Buchanan (Stephen Amell), the son of Mitch Buchanan, as he leads his own team of lifeguards. In addition, the show also stars Hassie Harrison as Nat, Shay Mitchell as Trina, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Noah Beck as Luke, and Brooks Nader as Selene. In recurring roles in the new series, Livvy Dunne is making her acting debut as Grace and David Chokachi will reprise his original series role as Cody Madison.

“I’m always heeere!”

Amell’s character description reads: “The wild child Hobie Buchannon is now a Baywatch Captain, following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch (played in the OG series by David Hasselhoff). Hobie’s world is turned upside down when Charlie, the daughter he never knew, shows up on his doorstep, eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy and become a Baywatch lifeguard alongside her dad.”

Matt Nix, executive producer and showrunner of the Baywatch reboot, said, “From the first conversation, Stephen Amell brought exactly what this new chapter of Baywatch demands: heart, intensity, and that undeniable hero energy. He’s the kind of lead who can sprint into danger, carry the emotional weight, and still make it feel fun. We’re so excited to get started.”

The reboot has received a 12-episode straight-to-series order and is slated to start shooting this March on L.A.’s Venice Beach and on the FOX Studio Lot in Century City. It will premiere during the 2026-27 season.

It can be easy to joke about Baywatch nowadays (especially with episodes that featured WCW wrestlers and the spin-off Baywatch Nights), but at its peak, the original series was the most-watched show in the world. Audiences just couldn’t get enough. The new reboot will “celebrate the franchise’s enduring legacy, while re-energizing it for today’s global audience. Fans can expect all the adrenaline-fueled rescues, tangled relationships, complicated chemistry, and beachside heroics that defined the original — now with an entirely new cast, contemporary trappings, tensions, and challenges, and a renewed mission to protect Southern California’s shoreline.”
