Confirmed: BBC Dracula hits Netflix in January

BBC and Netflix's upcoming three-episode miniseries based on Bram Stoker's DRACULA with Claes Bang starring as The Prince of Darkness himself is near the top of my must-see list. And today we've learned that the series will be released on Netflix next month. No specific date yet.

This update comes from a video showcasing all the new content hitting Netflix in January. Watch the video HERE. Then you can check out the trailer for DRACULA up top and then let us know what you think!

This new miniseries will consist of three episodes and it's coming our way from the producers of SHERLOCK. But unlike that series, which is been uprooted into the modern-day, this miniseries will stay in Victorian times. That said, the mini-series is said to be

reinventing Bram Stoker’s classic story for a 21st-century audience.

This new take also stars John Heffernan, Dolly Wells, Joanna Scanlan, Morfydd Clark, Lujza Richter, Mark Gatiss, Jonathan Aris, Sacha Dhawan, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Catherine Schell, Youssef Kerkour, Clive Russell, Lyndsey Marshal, Chanel Cresswell, Matthew Beard, and Sarah Niles.

The upcoming television series was developed by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, based on the novel of the same name by Bram Stoker. The series is being developed for broadcast and release on BBC One and Netflix and will consist of three episodes. Directing the three feature-length episodes are Jonny Campbell (Westworld), Damon Thomas (Penny Dreadful), and Paul McGuigan (PUSH, LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN, VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN).

While I'm sure this new BBC/Netflix take on Bram Stoker's novel will be pretty killer, and I fully plan on watching it once it hits, I think my favorite version of Stoker's tale of terror will always be Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 version, fittingly called BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA starring Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins, and Keanu Reeves. If you don't own that movie on Blu-ray (yeah, right) you can snag a copy over HERE.
