Sometimes you hear a description of an upcoming project and it just makes you go, huh?
Such was the case for me this morning when Variety announced that Beacon Pictures hired Adam Ripp and Steven Wolfson to script genre pic SERIAL. Why does that mess with my noggin you ask? Because the description of the project is this:
“Serial” is a psychological thriller along the lines of “Saw.”
Now that doesn’t really tell us a damn thing does it? I mean you know that any Hollywood serial killer will be violent and is probably going to play games with his/her victims, so what exactly are the lines that make it similar to SAW? Seems most likely that they are just piggy-backing on a well known franchaise name for the purposes of coverage.
Here’s a tip guys, we’d cover it anyway. Give us a real description and we might even be excited about it.
Now it’s early and I’m irritated so let’s end this with something pretty, like Vida Guerra.
