Best Horror Movie You Never Saw! 1995’s Screamers with Peter Weller! Video!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In the latest episode of our BEST HORROR MOVIE YOU NEVER SAW video series, we take a look back at the under-seen 1995 cult sci-fi horror thriller SCREAMERS (BUY IT HERE / WATCH IT HERE), starring ROBOCOP himself Peter Weller and Nightmare on Elm Street 3's Jennifer Rubin! Based on the Philip K. Dick short story THE SECOND VARIETY, the film – directed by Christian Duguay (SCANNERS II and III) and written by Dan O'Bannon (ALIEN, TOTAL RECALL) and Miguel Tejada-Flores (REVENGE OF THE NERDS) – is a masterclass of suspense, mystery, and ultimately a treatise on what it means to be human.

Here's the official synopsis:

Commander Joe Hendricksson (Peter Weller) and new recruit Ace Jefferson (Andy Lauer) set out across the surface of Sirius 6B, where they hope to settle a violent labor dispute at a remote mining outpost. After going too far to turn back, they find the desert riddled with deadly Autonomous Mobile Swords, or "Screamers." Created to protect the mines, these burrowing weapons have learned to replicate themselves. To make matters worse, recent generations of Screamers can assume humanoid form.

Meanwhile, this film is an underrated (if flawed) gem that deserves more attention, so we'd love it if you could check out our newest episode to help spread the word! And for more video content, please subscribe to our recently launched YouTube channel JoBlo Horror Videos!
