I really can’t wait for folks to see this one.

I saw SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD at last fall’s Fantastic Fest in Austin and it absolutely made an impression on me. It’s an intensely wild, crazy film, one that is almost impossible to describe without spoiling its secrets. I said then and there that whatever distribution company ends up acquiring it will absolutely have its work cut out for it, because cutting a trailer for this film alone will be a tricky proposition.

Now we know who’ll be distributing this nasty number domestically. Well Go USA has acquired North American rights to the film and is looking to release it during the Halloween season. Not only that, they’ve given it a slightly more holiday horror-friendly title: BETTER WATCH OUT. That’s neither a better nor worse title than SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD, in my opinion.

Here’s the synopsis, which is suitably vague:

On a quiet suburban street, a babysitter must defend a twelve-year-old boy from intruders, only to discover it’s far from a normal home invasion.

The Australian film, directed by Chris Peckover, stars the former brother and sister duo from THE VISIT Olivia DeJong and Ed Oxenbould, as well as Levi Miller, Dacre Montgomery, Virginia Madsen and Patrick Warburton.

Well Go USA will release BETTER WATCH OUT in theaters and on VOD on October 6th.
