I’ve never been a fan of Witches. I don’t have a specific reason, they just never really struck me as good villains. Compared to the Werewolf, the Vampire, the Mummy and the like… Witches just seemed lame. So on that note, let me tell you all a bit about a new witch flick coming from United Artists and StudioCanal!
It’s called CONJURE WIFE and is based off the 1952 novel by Fritz Leibert. MGM will distribute. Billy Ray has been pegged to both adapt the script and direct. Now just in case you don’t know who Billy Ray is, let me remind you. Ray has directed both BREACH and SHATTERED GLASS. He also penned the two along with HART’S WAR, COLOR OF NIGHT, THE SHOOTER, VOLCANO, LEGALESE, SUSPECT ZERO, and FLIGHTPLAN.
CONJURE WIFE is described as a supernatural thriller that deals with a man who discovers that his recent career successes are the result of his wife’s dabbling in witchcraft. I’d really like to get somewhat excited about this one… but alas there’s nothing here that intrigues me….. plus it’s about a witch.
Regardless the flick might have some nice twisted magic in it, so we’ll drop more info on CONJURE WIFE as we hear it.
