Any day now, studios are going to run out of 80s slasher flicks to remake and be forced to either come up with some original horror movies on their own, or start all over and remake their remakes. Going along with Jared’s earlier report that HELL NIGHT was up on the remake chopping block, word on the street is that HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME also has a remake in the works!
According to B-D, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME is in the works… and that’s about all we have to work with. So technically, this is just a rumor for you to take with a grain of salt; however, B-D has been hitting their rumors with some accuracy lately, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this one turned out to be true.
If you haven’t seen the 1981 classic, here’s a brief heads up as to what it was all about: Virginia is proud that she belongs to a clique. The best students at a private school. But before her 18th birthday, a grueling set of murders take place and her friends are the ones who are falling prey. Could it be her? She suffers from blackouts due to a freak accident one year earlier. We soon learn the truth behind her accident and what is going on…
Studios couldn’t come up with something better and more original than that??? No doubt they’ll shoot for a PG-13 rating (kiss that awesome poster-death goodbye), and who knows… maybe they’ll go the PROM NIGHT and simply steal the name, and not really remake it at all.
