BladeTV Greenlit!

The boys at Dread Central got the scoop that BLADE fans have been hoping for.

As you probably know (or maybe you don’t), SpikeTV and New Line hooked up to do a two-hour BLADE TV pilot to be aired in June. The project is being directed Peter O’Fallon (SUICIDE KINGS), and stars former Onyx star Kurt Jones as the role Mr. Snipes made so much fun to watch, and creator/writer David Goyer attached to executive produce.

Now, the DC boys report that SpikeTV has greenlit the series, even before the pilot airs! Another 11 episodes are scheduled for the first season, and considering that SpikeTV head honcho Doug Herzog stated that he hoped ‘Blade’ would do for SpikeTV what ‘The Shield’ did for FX, this really should come as no surprise. With wrestling and shoot-fighting occupying Spike at the moment, expect the network to shift its focus to the series in the near future as June creeps closer. Stay tuned.
