Cate Blanchett is trying to get a film adaptation of the book CANCER VIXEN: A TRUE STORY off the ground, with her intention being to play the lead role. The story revolves around the question: “What happens when a shoe-crazy, lipstick-obsessed, wine-swilling, pasta-slurping, fashion-fanatic, single-forever, about-to-get-married big-city girl cartoonist with a fabulous life finds . . . a lump in her breast?” So if I’m understanding this correct, basically, SEX AND THE CITY except not complete garbage.
Blanchett of course, has been nominated for an Oscar five times (won it once) and she did that playing characters who were for the most part healthy. Now she’s playing one who is dying? This is nomination number five before she even steps into costume.
