Bloody good red-band trailer for Schwarzenegger’s The Last Stand gives you an idea of what to expect

JoBloJoBlo

Just in time for its impending release, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s big screen return movie, THE LAST STAND, has shown its hand with a red-band trailer.  For some reason it never occured to me that this was rated R, but sure enough, it is.  Does it earn that R?  Well, we won’t know for sure until it hits theaters, but this new trailer is a pretty good indicator, capitalizing on some bloody shoot outs and good ol’ fashioned profanity.  As cool as it is to see all this, it does feel a bit too little too late and really not that necessary to sell the film at this point.

However, it should be apparent that I am all about the old-school throwbacks and THE LAST STAND looks like it may have just enough to tide me over until the next action outing, potentially Stallone’s BULLET TO THE HEAD or the combined muscle of Stallone and Ah-nuld in this year’s THE TOMB.  Or, A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD?  Either way, THE LAST STAND serves as the dinner bell for a year of some retro action stars back onscreen and that makes me happy no matter what.

You f*cked up my day off:

THE LAST STAND, directed by Jee-Woon Kim and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jaimie Alexander, Rodrigo Santoro, Johnny Knoxville, Peter Stormare, and Forest Whitaker hits theaters on January 18, 2013.
