Bloody Mid-Terms

Well, we’ve got another wacky dose of Asian horror to throw your way. The South Korean title is GOSA: PIHEE JUNGKANGOSA which translates to EXAM: BLOODY MID-TERMS. Outstanding title, I says! But does it bring the goods? Well, from the trailer, which you can check out below, everything appears to be moving in a nicely gore-iffic direction. Put down your number 2 pencils and take a peek at the plot:

The film revolves around 20 high school students who gather for a special Saturday afternoon class. While in the class, a tv mysteriously turns on as music blares. One of their fellow classmates is shown submerged in a tank of water and a voice tells them that she will be killed if they dont answer a question correctly. As they go along, more students begin disappearing and the questions to save their classmates lives get harder and harder.

So it’s kind of like SAW meets BATTLE ROYALE meets THE BREAKFAST CLUB? I guess so. I kind of like that combo. I remember mid-terms always being hell anyway so perhaps EXAM has got some potent horror fodder on its hands. I’m willing to wait and see. How long that will take is still another question. As of now, EXAM: BLOODY MID-TERMS is expected to release in 2008 only in Korea. There is no word yet on a US release. I’ll be keeping my eyes attentively open, though.
