True Clive Barker fans have his ‘Books of Blood’ in their literary collection… or, at the very least, they’ve read the whole series at least once. For those fans who live up to this criteria, then this little tidbit dropped by The Hollywood Reporter should get get you nice and excited.
Matador Pictures and Midnight Picture Show are looking to produce a series of films based on the ‘Books of Blood’ series, to go along with BOOKS OF BLOOD (currently in production) and MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN (hitting theaters this May). Think along the lines of TALES FROM THE CRYPT PRESENTS, or A GRINDHOUSE PICTURE… but all based on the stories within ‘Books of Blood!’
I couldn’t be more stoked, as those collection of stories (six entire collections of stories in all) are some of the most f*cked up and totally awesome stories out there – and each one would make some seriously tripped-out movies. Off the top of my head, the story with the giants made out of townfolk battling it out with each other… man, that’d be unreal to see on the big screen!
No details on further BOOKS lined up to be made yet… but from the sounds of it, they’re coming. It may have to do with how successful MEAT TRAIN is, but it may not. Stick around as more is released about it, meanwhile get ready for MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN in theaters everywhere May 16th.
