The New Mutants, Russell Crowe, Blu-ray, November, Amazon

I hope you've saved a portion of your latest paycheck because new Blu-rays are here! This week sees the release of Josh Boone's THE NEW MUTANTS, also known as Fox's final X-Men film that limped into theaters after a series of delays and behind-the-scenes shenanigans. The film features Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga as five young mutants who discover their abilities while being held in a secret facility against their will. With little choice but to fight for their escape, the group will be forced to face their sins if they're to save themselves. Alice Braga also stars as Dr. Reyes.

Also pulling onto the Blu-ray scene this week is director Derrick Borte's road rage thriller UNHINGED, starring Russell Crowe, Caren Pistorius, and Gabriel Bateman. After a confrontation with an unstable man (Crowe) at an intersection, a woman (Pistorius) becomes the target of his rage. Unhinged was one of the few films to be released during the COVID-19 pandemic, earning a worldwide total of $42.8 million in box office receipts.

Other notable releases this week include HBO's Westworld: Season 3, Makoto Shinkai's breathtaking anime feature WEATHERING WITH YOU, Christian Sesma's PAYDIRT, Seth Larney's Sci-fi feature 2067, THE ORANGE YEARS: THE NICKELODEON STORY, Mission Impossible: The Original TV Series, as well as the Criterion Collection's versions of MOONSTRUCK and GHOST DOG: THE WAY OF THE SAMURAI.

Movie theaters might be shuttered across the globe but at least we can still enjoy films and television shows in the comfort of our own homes, right? Right? Ugh! I know it's not always the same, but we're movie fans for the long haul, right? We'll take this form of entertainment however we can get it. Who's with me? Sound off like you've got a pair!
