According to The Tracking Board, 1977's THE SENTINEL is on the remake chopping block as Universal Pictures has given the nod to Jason Blum who will produce alongside Kevin Misher and his Misher Films. The original film, which was helmed by Michael Winner, was once set to be remade in 2003 by Universal, but it never got off the ground because they struggled to find the right person for the job. But if anyone can get this remake finally moving along it's Blumhouse who has seen plenty of success lately with films like PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, INSIDIOUS and THE PURGE.

In the original film:

Christina Raines plays a young fashion model who moves into an old Brooklyn brownstone. Strange things begin to happen and as she begins to research the tenement, she comes to learn her building has a horrifying past and is a gateway to hell.

Right now the project is currently out to writers/directors so we'll be sure to fill you folks in on that news once we get it!
