Blumhouse is looking into making Scream and Hellraiser movies

After producing the latest HALLOWEEN sequel, Blumhouse Productions' Jason Blum has been very open about the fact that he's interested in getting involved with other popular franchises. He even gave a list a while back: Blumhouse wants to make sequels to or remakes of properties like FRIDAY THE 13TH, THE CROW, THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW, CHRISTINE, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, ALIEN, and the Universal monster movies.

That last wish has come true, as Blumhouse is now producing the Dark Universe project THE INVISIBLE MAN.

There are a couple more properties Blum is still pursuing. Speaking with Cinema Blend, he confirmed that his company has had talks about taking over the SCREAM and HELLRAISER franchises:

Yes, we definitely have [discussed it]. We're looking – there's nothing happening with either one of those things – but we're definitely looking at it, and it's definitely something I'd be open to.

A remake of HELLRAISER has been in development hell for a long, long time. So long that Dimension had to pump out a couple very low budget sequels over the years just to keep the rights to the property. If there's anyone who could finally get the project into production, it's probably Blum.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a Blumhouse SCREAM movie get made someday, because Blum has mentioned being interested in getting the SCREAM rights multiple times in recent months. He seems to be especially passionate about that one, so I don't have much doubt that he'll be able to make it happen.
