I’ve always wanted to check out New Zealand for its glorious natural beauty, as well as Australia, as it seems like a cool place to hang out with some amazing scenery and ultra-cool locations. Except Australia’s outback. F*ck that place. I wouldn’t hit that place up with a 100 mile pole.
Why the hate, you ask? Because I’ve seen WOLF CREEK, that’s why. I will also never visit New Mexico (THE HILLS HAVE EYES) or Slovakia (HOSTEL) for similar reasons.
Today I have yet another reason not to visit Australia’s outback, and that reason is ROAD TRAIN. According to Variety, ROAD TRAIN is about a group of youngsters menaced by a driverless road train in the Australian outback. Ah! Craziness!
Producers Paul Cowan, Chris Wheeldon, and Michael Robertson are re-teaming together to bring this road horror to the big screen. The last time these guys got together, they brought us horror in the swamp with BLACK WATER. A swamp, might I add, in Northern Australia (note to self: don’t visit Northern Australia).
Written by Clive Hopkins and to be directed by first-time director Dean Francis, the flick is looking to begin filming later this summer. And even more possible places I would like to see someday have been taken off my list…
Australian hottie Nicky Whelan… one more reason to visit Australia.
