Darren Lynn Bousman has his hands full in the immediate future with MOTHER’S DAY… but that’s not stopping him from looking ahead! Today Variety have word on what Bousman will be diving into next after MOTHER’S DAY… or should I say cutting up?
It seems he’ll be entering the ABATTOIR. Unless you’re French then you should have your eyebrows bunched in confusion. You see “abattoir” is the French word for ‘slaughterhouse.’ Yes… Bousman and slaughterhouse in the same sentence. If you’re a fan of the man then you should be stoked! The original(!) film is coming from Radical Pictures, who also have an ABATTOIR graphic novel on the way based on the film! And get this… some artwork for this upcoming graphic novel will be finding it’s way to Comic Con this week so be on the lookout for that!
Now you’re probably very intrigued by now and I haven’t even told you what’s going on with ABATTOIR! The movie will center on a real estate agent assigned to clean up the remnants of a massacre that took place in a mansion he hopes to sell is visited by a twisted old man who draws the agent into a web of shadows, murders and massacres. As long as this doesn’t turn out as ‘torture-porn’ as it sounds I’m down! Bousman even issued a statement regarding ABATTOIR:
“After taking over the ‘Saw’ franchise for so long and then directing ‘Mother’s Day’ based on the original film, this is exciting because it is an original concept and we feel it could be a huge franchise.”
That it is Mr. Bousman, that it is. So not only is Bousman and company counting on MOTHER’S DAY to spawn a new franchise… but now ABATTOIR as well? Damn he’s going to be busy if these flicks are a hit! If you’re going to be at Comic Con be sure to keep an eye out for those ABATTOIR pages as well as Bousman and crew’s screening of REPO!
