And we shall see soon enough! Warner Brothers announced today that THE BOX has landed an official release date! Ready? Drumroll please… March 20, 2009 will see the release of Cameron Diaz and James Mardsen in the adaptation of the short story by Richard Matheson. At least we know the source material rocks… let’s hope he can pull it off!
Mid-March could prove to be a great release time for a movie like this. It’s not quite ‘dump month’ like February is, but it’s not a prime spring release like April… this could be the hit to look forward to next year.
THE BOX revolves around Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don’t know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.
