Combining the director of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL with the screenwriter of PROMETHEUS seems like a good way to get the internet’s panties in a bunch.

MI4 helmer Bird is now attached to direct 1952, a top-secret sci-fi project written by Damon Lindelof, who, before PROMETHEUS, was best known as a head writer/executive producer on “Lost”. The project is currently set up at Disney. There are no plot details available as of yet, all we know is that it’s an “epic tentpole” that has multi-platform aspirations.

Naturally, Bird and Lindelof have a friend in common: J.J. Abrams. Abrams produced MI4 for Bird, and was an executive producer on “Lost.” Lindelof also co-wrote STAR TREK 2, which is currently in production with Abrams at the helm.

Interestingly, 1952 is being co-written by Jeff Jensen, a writer for Entertainment Weekly who used to cover “Lost” regularly. Looks like a fruitful relationship was forged between him and Lindelof during that time.

Hopefully more details on 1952 will be revealed soon.
