We’ve been bringing you every update we can get our grubby little hands on concerning Len Wiseman’s TOTAL RECALL remake so why in the world would we stop now?
What am I getting at? Well the insanely talented Bryan Cranston, who’s going to be starring in said TOTAL RECALL remake, recently chatted it up with the folks over at NY Mag’s Vulture and after an intriguing conversation about “Breaking Bad” the topic quickly changed to TOTAL RECALL. When asked if it was a challenge remaking a film like this Cranston had nothing but amazing things to say about the project. Check it:
“I don’t think there is much of a challenge at all. I think the script is better. We certainly have a tremendous upgrade in our lead actor. That is less of a comment on Arnold [Schwarzenegger] and more of a comment on Colin [Farrell]. The special effects over the last twenty years have grown exponentially, so that is going to be a heightened experience. And I just think it is an exciting movie. You know it’s going to entertain — I can guarantee you that.”
Well of course he’s going to say that… He’s not going to say the thing sucks now is he? Who knows though… Perhaps Cranston ain’t just whistling dixie here. Could TOTAL RECALL actually be as awesome as he’s making it out to be? Time will tell I suppose.
TOTALL RECALL involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side. Vilos Cohaagen is the head of Euromerica, furtively devising an invasion of New Shanghai.
Along with Cranston (above) the sci-fi remake also stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale (below), Bill Nighy, Jessica Biel, Ethan Hawke, John Cho and Bokeem Woodbine. It’s due to hit theaters on August 3, 2012 so expect a lot more updates from this bad larry soon.
