It has been confirmed that Joe Lynch (WRONG TURN 2) will be directing an adaptation of the eco-horror novel THE BRIDGE from authors Craig Spector and John M. Skipp. Spector himself is currently at work on the script. Known for infusing copious amounts of splatterpunk into their words, Spector and Skipp’s book sounds like an ideal choice for the likes of Lynch. Check out the synopsis:
When the great storm comes, the good life ends. And hell on Earth begins. For 100 years we’ve been tossing our toxic waste over our shoulders. No more. This morning, while we slept, something woke up. It’s Virulent. Malign. Intelligent. Ambitious. It’s in our food, our water, our air. It’s inside our bodies themselves. And it’s not leaving. We are.
That sounds like some intense eco-based shit! Kind of like HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP meets CABIN FEVER. And Lynch seems like an excellent choice. I really thought that WRONG TURN 2 outdid part 1 on numerous levels of horror and humor (check out Arrow’s review here.). Hopefully more info will be crossing over THE BRIDGE soon.
