Brittany Murphy‘s untimely death in 2009 cut short a career with a lot of potential. While she had yet to truly have a major studio role that showcased her talents as a lead, she worked on a number of films big and small. Her final film, SOMETHING WICKED, was shot the year of her death but is only now seeing release. And now we have a look at the trailer for the thriller.

Make no mistake: SOMETHING WICKED does not look like a great movie. The production values and acting on display here are mediocre at best. SOMETHING WICKED looks like the type of movie you would first learn about from seeing it displayed on a Redbox, but as Murphy’s last role it deserves a look.

Christine and her boyfriend James have just graduated from Highland High School and are looking forward to enjoying their future together. Everything appears to be going well until they realize that Christine is being stalked by a psychologically tormented and obsessed young man who will stop at nothing to be with her.

Brittany Murphy‘s role appears to be signficant but in a supporting capacity. In fact, Murphy looks like the best thing going on in this film. Still, if SOMETHING WICKED is anything it is a curiosity surrounding the death of a famous actress. Hopefully it turns out to at least be somewhat enjoyable on a B-movie level.

SOMETHING WICKED premieres in limited release on April 4, 2014.
