It’s no secret that there’s a MEN IN BLACK 3 on the way. Unfortunately we know absolutely nothing about it!
Actually there’s plenty of things rumbling around but nothing has been made official. What we do know is Sony are planning on running with a script from Etan Cohen and they fully plan on bringing back both star Will Smith and director Barry Sonnenfeld. But what about new cast? And Tommy Lee Jones? Well there’s the kicker folks…
The LA Times are reporting that the name on top of Sony’s wishlist for MEN IN BLACK 3 is none other than Josh Brolin (above)! Now there’s something I didn’t see coming… So Brolin follows up a couple awesome performances in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and W with a couple supernatural genre romps like JONAH HEX and MEN IN BLACK 3? Brilliant. That’s my kind of actor! Take that Hollywood.
In all seriousness Brolin would of course be an awesome addition to the Men in Black, but what role will he play? Nothing is official but early rumblings have Brolin stepping in as either ‘a new single-monikered government agent, with Tommy Lee Jones’ Agent K passing the baton to Brolin’s character. Or he could play Agent K as a young man. Or something else entirely.’ Oh the possibilities are endless…
It’s no secret I’m actually a big fan of the MEN IN BLACK films. Whether intoxicated or not these films are always a lot of fun, but I just can’t see myself getting excited about a third installment unless Tommy Lee Jones is signed on for the whole she-bang. Sure it’s got Smith… and sure it might have Brolin stepping in… but No Jones equals No Dice folks. Anyone else with me on this one? Does anyone else even care?
Mind you ladies and gentlemen none of this is official! In actuality the film hasn’t even been greenlit yet. But since when has that ever stopped this industry, right? As always be sure to keep it here for MEN IN BLACK 3 updates as we hear them.
