Way back in April the always entertaining Ted Raimi kind of-sort of gave us an update on the MY NAME IS BRUCE sequel BRUCE VS. FRANKENSTEIN. You guys remember that? Well here we are, months later, and luckily someone else has decided to open their mouth regarding the project.

Who could that someone be? Why ‘Bruce’ himself of course! Mr. Bruce f*cking Campbell. You see, Campbell recently had a chat with MTV regarding the upcoming Blu-Ray release of THE EVIL DEAD and luckily for us the subject quickly changed to BRUCE VS. FRANKENSTEIN. So what did Mr. Campbell have to say regarding his upcoming adventure? Check it:

“We were hoping to do it during the middle of this break in my ‘Burn Notice’ TV schedule but I’m making a ‘Burn Notice’ TV movie instead about my character. It’s a prequel movie about how Sam Axe got stuck in Miami. So we had to push [‘Bruce Vs. Frankenstein.’] Hopefully we’ll do it during the next break. ….. but basically I want every horror movie icon in the movie. I want it to be the ‘Mad, Mad, Mad World’ of horror movies.”

Every horror movie icon? That sounds intriguing! Campbell also gets asked what the chances of seeing another EVIL DEAD movie are… And low and behold he gives the same answer we’ve been hearing for years now.

“I don’t really know. It depends on how bored Sam Raimi gets. He’s making a lot of A movies right now. Maybe when I’m in the old actor’s home and he’s losing his vision we’ll make another one. I don’t think either of us are against it. But you know, these are extremely physical movies in every sense of the word. So I don’t know. I’m 52 now, I don’t know if I need that s–t anymore.”

There you have it folks. I nice jam packed Bruce Campbell update for you all! Hey at least BRUCE VS. FRANKENSTEIN is definitely happening, and soon it seems! There’s something to be excited about! While we wait for more news regarding the project I’ll leave you all with Campbell’s reponse to a question asking why he’s so awesome:

“Well now it’s because of longevity. I refuse to go away. I think that’s probably it. I’m the guy at the party who, you look around and you go, ‘God, that guy’s still here?'”
