Well it looks like American McGee’s ALICE won’t be happening anytime soon, but don’t worry, because Tim Burton’s version just took a big step forward!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mr. Burton has found his Alice in the form of Mia Wasikowska.
The young woman from Australia beat out a host of other potential actresses in the search for Alice. Wasikowska (below) has some fairly decent credits thus far. She’s a regular on HBO’s IN TREATMENT and has starred with Daniel Craig in DEFIANCE and Hilary Swank in AMELIA.
Burton will be directing the new take on ALICE IN WONDERLAND for Disney with a script from Linda Woolverton, who penned THE LION KING.
I’m starting to get the feeling this won’t be as dark as I was hoping… Disney and the screenwriter from THE LION KING teaming with Tim Burton to bring us a new version of ALICE IN WONDERLAND? Color me very intrigued, I’m just hoping we get more Burton than Disney. What do you think?
