When people hear the name Ron Jeremy, most people think about his ‘acting’. Nobody thinks about The Hedgehog’s other acting prowess. Take director Phillip Cruz. He saw beyond Jeremy’s work in films like ‘Debbie Does Dallas 4’ and ‘Family Thighs’ and gave him the title role in ANDRE THE BUTCHER (aka DEAD MEAT). Now, Fango reports that the film has finally found a distributor and is heading to DVD in the near future.
Velocity Home Entertainment, which also picked up DVD distribution rights for Juan A. Mas’ THE CHOKE, is set to release ANDRE THE BUTCHER onto DVD April 25th. Besides starring Ron Jeremy, the film also stars April Billingsley, Maury Sterling and Heather Joy Budner. When a small group of decadent cheerleaders gets stranded on their way to the regional championship, they find refuge in an abandoned hunting lodge in the backwoods of Florida. When darkness falls, terror comes along in the form of local legend Andre the Butcher. The DVD looks like this:
- 4:3 letterboxing
- 5.1 Digital Surround and 2.0 stereo audio
- filmmaker commentary
- documentary directed by April Billingsley
- deleted scene
- trailer gallery
Now, would it be safe to assume the possibility of the deleted scene being something of, oh, I don’t know, a porn scene? Who knows, but we’ll see come (heh, heh) April.
As stated above, Velocity Home Entertainment also secured DVD rights for THE CHOKE, which hits March 21. The DVD for the rockers-trapped-inside-a-meat-packing-plant film will sport a 6×9 widescreen transfer, 5.1 Digital Surround and 2.0 stereo soundtracks, commentary by the director, producer and writers,, a The Choke: The Legend Begins featurette and a trailer gallery.
Still with Velocity, THE ZODIAC will hit May 23. Not to be confused with David Fincher’s upcoming film, THE ZODIAC is based on the true serial-murder case in the 70’s San Francisco area, and directed by Alexander Bulkley from a script he wrote with Kelly Bulkley. The film stars Justin Chambers as a police sergeant tracking the perpetrator of savage murders who sends cryptic clues to the newspapers. Robin Tunney (END OF DAYS), Rory Culkin and Philip Baker (THE AMITYVILLE HORROR REMAKE) Hall co-star. No word on the specs or cover art for this one, so instead here’s the very lovely April Billingsley.
