Caesar looks like he’s ready for war in this first trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

As promised on Monday, the first trailer for DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES has been released, and it's an excellent tease for Matt Reeves' upcoming film. The trailer starts with a speech by Gary Oldman about what has happened since the events in the last film, and there isn't any ape actions until the very end of the preview, but even then it's just a glimpse of Caesar and his primate army. I may sound like I'm complaining, but I'm actually really pleased with this trailer. It reveals just enough in my opinion, and there's a quiet intensity to it that I'm really digging.

"It's about giving us the hope to rebuild, and reclaim the war we lost."

Synopsis:

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES also stars Keri Russell, Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, and Judy Greer, and is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2014.
