Captain Jack is back! First official image from Pirates of the Caribbean 5

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

While production officially began back in February, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NOT TALES had to take a brief hiatus when Johnny Depp injured his hand. Now, Depp is back on set and filming has resumed on the fifth entry in Disney’s swashbuckling franchise.

To put fans at ease, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has tweeted the first official photo from the set of the film. Check it out.

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

Co-starring Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, Geoffrey Rush, Kevin R. McNally, Stephen Graham, and Brenton Thwaites, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES comes from KON_TIKI directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning. While I tuned out after the last two films, I will remain cautious until I see some footage of this movie. Johnny Depp looks older in the photo which could be due to lighting or maybe they are trying something a little different with the character this time around.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES will sail into theaters on July 7, 2017.
